Par: 4 • Handicap: 11
TVC_1_G

This is a dogleg hole that will play along a large sandy area on the right side. A sharp shoulder on the left side of the green challenges any approach from the left. An approach from the right will have a long run up to the green. Once on the green, the golfer will be faced with some challenging putts if the proper side of the green is not found with the approach.

The bunkering on the right side of the hole offers an intimidating line of charm for players who want to take on the extra challenge of carrying the bunker. Golfers who take this aggressive line will be rewarded with a shorter pitch into the green and a better angle of approach. The green takes on a traditional tabletop look fitting the scale of the green site.

Hole 3

Tee Information: Black 599 yards • Blue 555 yards • Gold 485 yards • White 440 yards • Red 432 yards

Par: 5 • Handicap: 9

This tee shot is faced with a sandy area that crosses the hole just off the tee and fits perfectly into the rise that precedes the start of the fairway. A fairway bunker on the right side of the hole challenges the tee ball of the longer hitter. Depending on the hole location and quality of the tee shot, the golfer will want to decide how to tackle this series of hazards. Choices like this are the essence of good golf course architecture and are particularly rewarding on the second shot of a par 5.

Tee Information: Black 136 yards • Blue 130 yards • Gold 122 yards • White 100 yards • Red 90 yards

Par: 3 • Handicap: 15

This dramatic, short par 3 has two distinctly different tee angles to boost variety. The heavily contoured green sits just over the brow of a large sandy area that covers the ground between tee and green. Both the left and right are free of major trouble, making this hole an exercise in distance control.

Hole 5

Tee Information: Black 431 yards • Blue 401 yards • Gold 360 yards • White 320 yards • Red 290 yards

Par: 4 • Handicap: 7

The tee shot is of the up and over variety, with a long string of bunkers down the right side of the hole. The fairway is surprisingly generous and tee shots played down the right side will receive a nice kick forward and be rewarded with a short shot into the green. From the valley, the next shot is played up to a plateau green which has a deep bunker guarding the left front of the green and a false front guarding the front right.

Hole 6

Tee Information: Black 308 yards • Blue 295 yards • Gold 273 yards • White 245 yards • Red 219 yards

Par: 4 • Handicap: 13

TVC_6_Z

This hole is full of options for the tee shot, where golfers can take anything from a mid-iron to a driver off the tee depending on the hole location. Players who challenge the left side of the hole will need to take this bunker into consideration from the tee. The green is of a boomerang nature with distinctive hole locations that will inspire thought from the tee and creativity in the approach.

Hole 7

Tee Information: Black 245 yards • Blue 205 yards • Gold 180 yards • White 163 yards • Red 145 yards

Par: 3 • Handicap: 17

This long par 3 hole plays downhill over a sandy area in front of the tee and the very wide approach is slightly obscured by this feature. Because length is the primary defense of this hole, the green complex is bunker-less. Some interesting low ground features provide a challenge to this hole while maintaining a simple and understated appearance.

Hole 8

Tee Information: Black 433 yards • Blue 405 yards • Gold 380 yards • White 362 yards • Red 317 yards

Par: 4 • Handicap: 1

TVC_8_GA

The golfer who plays down the left, nearest to the sandy area, will not only shorten the hole, but will also create the best angle into a green that slopes away from the player. The reliance on the ground game for an approach to this green fits perfectly into the setting for this green site, offering another example of variety needed for playing the course.

Hole 8

Hole 9

Tee Information: Black 550 yards • Blue 540 yards • Gold 490 yards • White 460 yards • Red 458 yards

Par: 5 • Handicap: 3

TVC_9_PN

This par 5 is a wonderful finish to the front nine. A large, sandy area to the right side of the hole provides scale and drama to the uphill tee shot. A small cluster of bunkers located roughly 100 yards from the hole will extract penalties if the second shot is played with less than the appropriate precision. The green is very narrow and pressed right up against the water and is sure to challenge the recovery skills of even the best players.

This par 3 begins at the Clubhouse with an impressive shared tee complex with hole #13. A well executed tee shot into the prevailing wind will place the ball safely on the green, avoiding a large bunker short and left of the putting surface.

The 10th green seamlessly blends into the 11th tee giving way to a visually demanding tee shot. A large fairway bunker protects the left side of the fairway forcing the player to favor the right side of the hole. A layup too far to the right will leave a blind approach to a heavily guarded green complex surrounded by bunkers. Once on the green you will notice a view of the pond on #15 as the green sits directly atop the crest of the hill.

This long par 4 will prove to be challenging as the predominant wind is once again in the player’s face. A tee shot too far to the left will find the fairway bunker complex that is shared with the 11th hole, while the right side of the landing area is guarded by a small fairway bunker. The “punchbowl” green complex will help wayward approach shots bounce toward the green as each side of the green is raised giving a bowl-like appearance.

This slight dogleg right features a green complex that forces the player to favor the left side of the fairway off the tee. Too far left, however, and the ball will find the fescue grass. A large waste area guards the green short and right which puts a premium on an accurate second shot as well. Once on the green the player will enjoy another stunning view of the pond on #15.

Through creative bunkering and green complex shaping, Gil Hanse incorporated his special blend of mental risk/reward challenges on this short par 4. There are many options off the tee, however the player will want to note the location of the flagstick before choosing where to land the ball. Once in the fairway this small green is well guarded by a deep bunker in front and a large bunker behind.

VGC_15_KX

To put the ball in the proper position to make par on the longest hole on the course, the player will have to first avoid the pond to the right. From there the player will have to gauge risk vs. reward on the second shot as a large waste area protects the left side of the landing area. Regardless of the lay up, the approach shot must be precise to the smallest green on the course that features a false front and a dramatic fall off behind the putting surface.

VGC_16_TX

The predominant left-to-right wind will force tee shots to be precise on this medium-length par 3 in order to avoid a deep greenside bunker to the right of the green. Once safely on the elevated green players will enjoy a panoramic view of a portion of the front and back nines.

Hole 16

Hole 17

Tee Information: Black 442 yards • Blue 417 yards • Gold 412 yards • White 402 yards • Red 340 yards

VGC_17_GSD

Off the tee the player is forced to decide how closely to play his shot to the large waste area complex to the left as the further right the tee shot is played the smaller the chance of seeing the putting surface is. Once in the fairway the second shot must take into account the right-to-left pitch of the green which is located beyond the same large waste area that was navigated off the tee.

Hole 17

Hole 18

Tee Information: Black 438 yards • Blue 419 yards • Gold 386 yards • White 376 yards • Red 361 yards

Par: 4 • Handicap: 4

VGC_18_R

Players will enjoy a visually stunning view of parts of both nines and the Clubhouse once on the elevated 18th tee. In order for the tee shot to land safely in the fairway, players must avoid waste areas to the left and right of the landing area, leaving a long shot into the largest green on the course. Once on the green, players will have to gauge their final putts carefully as subtle breaks and the large size of the green will ensure that each putt will be challenging!
